Relationships and Sex Education Policy

A parental consultation was held in November 2024 for parents and carers to understand the legal requirements around the teaching of Relationships and Sex Education. There were 53 parental responses. 

Parent - rights to withdraw:

Parents/carers do not have the right to withdraw their child from relationships education.

Parents/carers have the right to withdraw their child from the non-statutory/non-science components of sex education within RSE ie: the additional sex education elements from our whole Federation approach and SCARF planning.

Requests for withdrawal should be put in writing using the form found in Appendix 3 of the Relationships and Sex Education policy  (accessed in paper copy via the school office) and addressed to the Head of School.

Alternative school work will be given to pupils who are withdrawn from non-statutory relationships sex education.
